In this month’s episode of The Senior Living Show, we’re sitting down with Cheryl Wellman, nurse and administrator at Family Partners Adult Day Center. Cheryl explains that the adult day center provides services to seniors with memory issues and dementia.

How many days should my loved one attend Family Partners Adult Day Center?

Cheryl recommends seniors with memory issues visit the center at least 2-3 days per week, but says they have several clients that attend every weekday! The center has openings every day between 8am and 5pm, Monday-Friday.

Does Adult Day Center programming work for someone with dementia?

According to neurologists at Washington University, socialization can greatly benefit anyone with memory impairments. Family Partners employs 30 workers and volunteers per day, so there’s always plenty of interaction, stimulation, and activities for visiting seniors.  Long-term improvements are possible with regular visits, Cheryl says. Several of the adult day program’s clients with dementia had improved medical scans after 6-12 months of visits at the center. Most others report increased independence and social improvements from attending the adult day program.

Is Family Partners Adult Day covered by Insurance?

Care at Family Partners Adult Day is covered by VA benefits, long-term care insurance, and Medicaid. They also accept private pay, or a combination of private pay and VA benefits or Medicaid.
