Artfully Aging believes that everyone is an Artist!
Artfully Aging is a watercolor art program designed for seniors of all skill and care levels. Our holistic approach makes each art session meaningful and therapeutic. We have strived to create a program where every participant can tap into their own creative nature while experiencing a sense of joy and empowerment through participation. Since 2010 Artfully Aging has been a pioneer in promoting creative aging in the St. Louis, MO senior community. In the face of the recent pandemic and in an effort to continue our mission of serving seniors, Artfully Aging has developed a fully automated online program complete with “How to” videos. This has allowed us to serve an ever expanding number of seniors and senior communities nationwide.
The goal of Artfully Aging is for each participant to experience their individual creative nature. The “How to” videos are designed to provide activity staff and/or caregiver’s practical watercolor knowledge, as well as insightful approaches to working with all levels of senior care. Our mission is to provide quality programming along with practical hands-on training to ensure all participants can experience the many possible benefits.

STEP 1 Select and Purchase Projects
STEP 2 Receive Art Projects
Each ordered project comes in a packet of (5) prepared ready to paint watercolor sheets with a graphite guide. Coordinating “How to” videos are located on the Video Library page which becomes available when the user is logged into the website. Downloadable color project samples are located on the Video Library page with the coordinating project video. Copies can be made to use during the session.
STEP 3 Review Training Videos
All project specific videos are 7-9 minutes long and provide reminiscing prompts. Also, there are two additional training videos for participants and/or staff. One, called Practical Hands-On Training, gives a thorough program overview. It is 24 minutes long and like the project specific videos is only accessible on the Video Library page when logged into the website. The second is called Implementing the Program. This video is about working with participants of different skill and care levels and is 4.5 minutes long. It is located on the “How it Works” page and the Video Library page.
STEP 4 Start Painting
A word about the program: The main goal is for all participants to have a relaxing and enjoyable experience. There is no right or wrong! The projects are appropriate and beneficial for every level of care or no care at all! You just have to adjust your approach and expectations depending on the individual or group. When working with Memory Care and Assisted Living it is recommended that the staff view the videos ahead of time so they know how to lead and guide their residents and/or clients through the project. Most independent living residents and/or participants will be able to utilize the videos with little or no assistance. The Artfully Aging watercolor program can be enjoyed by everyone!
