Program Description: Computer Classes are offered in sessions every eight weeks. They begin with how to turn on & start up a computer to specialty/advanced classes such as Microsoft Office Suite programs, etc. Classes frequently fill up so call the office to sign up for the next upcoming session. Classes run Mondays & Wednesdays, 9am-11am.
The Computer Club is an actual club of individuals who meet the first Monday of each month at 1:30 p.m. At each monthly meeting an informative topic is presented. The club is open to new members and you may visit and observe before joining.
Senior Fitness, sponsored by Eye Care for the Adirondacks, is an exercise program designed for active older adults. It meets three mornings a week (currently Mon/Wed/Fri @ 8:15 a.m.).
Osteo/Arthritis Exercise is offered as a class designed to help strengthen your lower back, wrists and legs. The group, led by a trained volunteer, meets in the gym Tuesday & Thursday at 9:00 a.m.
Tai Chi is offered and led by an instructor to increase your balance, cognitive capacity and flexibility. Join this group on Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m.
Zumba Gold is a less aggressive type of Zumba, which combines dance and aerobics. It is offered to be comfortable for adults of all ages and meets 3 times a week; Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m. and Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. There is a minimal fee for this activity.
Yoga is offered on Friday mornings at 10:30. The class is designed to increase your flexibility. New members are always welcome.
Shuffleboard meets in the gym twice a week. It is played on the gym floor and there are three courts available. The group currently meets each Monday & Wednesday at 10:00 am.
Scrabble group meets each Monday from 9am-11am. New members are always welcome.
Mah Jongg, a Chinese tile game is played twice a week. Lessons are given in the Spring and Fall if you are interested in learning to play. The group meets Fridays at 12:00 noon.
Painting classes are offered in the Spring and Fall. Classes are taught at a variety of levels, no experience is necessary. There is a fee for these classes.
Knitting is offered on Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Anyone is welcome to come join the group. Students of all levels are welcome as they meet each week and discuss their projects and also get instructions from the teacher to further their knowledge of the craft.
Crocheting & Quilting are offered seperately on Monday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Anyone is welcome to come join the group. Students of all levels are welcome as they meet each week and discuss their projects and also get instructions from the teacher to further their knowledge of the craft.
Genealogy is offered on the third Friday of each month at 1:00 p.m. It is designed to teach you how to research your ancestry on the computer.
Pinochle players meet Thursday afternoons at 12:30 p.m in the dining room area.
Poker players meet Thursday afternoons at 12:30 p.m. on the 2nd floor, hallway area.
Wii Bowling is played on Tuesday mornings at 10:30. The current group consists of four-man teams. Groups from the Senior Center as well as some of the Nutrition Sites compete and participate in the National Senior League. Currently we have twenty teams entered.
